Requirements to Become a Foster Carer
✅ Provide a safe and secure home for a child.
✅ Have a spare bedroom available (unless fostering siblings under a specific age).
✅ Attend important meetings regarding the child’s care, such as LAC Reviews and PEP meetings.
✅ Commit to working in line with the child’s Care Plan.
✅ Support and uphold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
✅ Work in partnership with birth parents where appropriate.
✅ Participate in ongoing training and attend support groups regularly.
✅ Involve the young person in decisions that affect their life.
✅ Treat the child as a valued member of your family.
✅ Use positive, non-punitive discipline—corporal punishment is strictly prohibited.
To join our fostering community, you must:
✅ Keep detailed and accurate records of events concerning the child.
✅ Engage in regular home visits and supervision with your allocated Supervising Social Worker.
✅ Prioritize the child’s safety and well-being, reporting concerns to the appropriate professionals.
✅ Support therapeutic interventions when arranged, including transporting the child to therapy sessions.
✅ Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to the children in your care.
